I haven't tested it, but I hope the alternative diff coloration makes it easier to see single-word/space insertions and deletions within a line (which is something I often fail to notice in mainline KDiff3). Even though in Settings on startup, the vimdiff mergetool is marked green. gitconfig, executing git mergetool from git bash works fine, but GitExtensions refuses to start it, saying that the mergetool is incorrectly configured. I stopped following KDiff3 development and decided to pin 1.8.5 on my system, which actually works.Īnother fork of KDiff3 is. The same thing happens when Neovim-qt is used as the mergetool. My next favourite is atom but this also has problems with Git, Its difficult to set up as the default editor: under Windows, Git wont wait for Atom to. to make it easier to use, setting Gits default merge tool to it. The merge view (see screenshot) has only 3 panes, just like SourceGear Diff/Merge. So you can have some history diff on all files much simpler. I will just use Notepad++ when creating or editing files directly from the Git Bash command line (that thing you can see in Figure 3. The command-line Git client will still find these files, but making them visible will. Meld is a newer free tool that Id prefer to SourceGear Diff/Merge: Now its also working on most platforms (Windows/Linux/Mac) with the distinct advantage of natively supporting some source control like Git. Unfortunately versions starting at 1.9.0 are drastically buggier than 1.8.5: Ctrl+C being incorrectly enabled and disabled ( ), merge errors (, fixed), drastic slowdown when loading CRLF files (, fixed), recurring assertion errors (didn't personally encounter, but, ), large chunks of Git history producing unusable binaries that corrupt memory or print assertion errors when loading files, etc. Unfortunately, we need to use the command line stuff to get everything set up (that’s what we’re doing now).
